Sierra de San Vicente, Toledo

A 141 km circular trail linking the villages of the Sierra de San Vicente along old paths and drove roads. Its route draws a loop, and legend has it that Viriathus used it that way to throw off the Roman legions pursuing him. Oak and chestnut woods, dehesas and ruined castles, an hour and a half from Madrid. The range was resettled by peasants from Ávila and belonged to that province until 1833, which is why its food, customs and folklore feel closer to Ávila than to Toledo.
